The Garden Haven and Farm
Tucked into the heart of Pittsboro, The Garden Haven & Farm is where Word & Plant’s botanical dreams take root. More than a farm, it’s an evolving landscape for exploration, creation, and connection—a place where dye plants mingle with herbs, edible flowers bloom beside aromatics, and everything grown is chosen with intention.
This living garden is home to our workshops and upcoming specialty plant sales. Whether you’re learning to make handcrafted herbal body care products to nourish your skin, crafting a fairy garden mushroom pot, or imbuing fabric with the gorgeous natural colors of our dye plants, we hope you’ll love joining us for a little plant magic and fun!
Learn & Create With Us
We offer small-group workshops and seasonal camps rooted in creativity, nature, and plant-based learning. Some of our favorites include:
- Natural Dyeing and Ecoprinting: Work with flowers, leaves, stems, and seeds to create functional art you can wear, carry, or festoon your home with.
- Herbal Allergen-Friendly Skincare: Craft your own bar and liquid soaps, body butters, balms and more working with our farm-grown botanicals and skin-loving ingredients. Go home with your creation and the knowledge to make more.
- Aromatic Distillation: Learn how to transform fresh plants with the ancient art of steam distillation to create your own hydrosols and fragrant waters. These can be used to make healthy room and linen sprays, body and face mists, and even added to your herbal soaps!
- Seasonal Camps & Family Workshops: Creative, screen-free experiences for all ages with fun, plant-inspired themes.
All workshops focus on gluten-free and top-allergen-free formulations and materials, with an emphasis on sustainability and joyful, plant-based creativity.
